HGV CE Driver | Class 1 Driver | Class 2 Driver – Halifax

One of our long-established clients based in Halifax is looking for a Class 1 Driver who is also happy to carry out Class 2 work when required. This is an ongoing opportunity to help cover extra work, holidays and sickness, with shifts available throughout the year.

Work is typically available 1-2 days per week, although there will also be opportunities to cover full weeks during planned holidays. The ideal candidate will be flexible and available Monday to Friday as required.

The role involves local palletised multidrop deliveries throughout the HX postcode areas, so you'll become familiar with the routes and regular customers. You'll be driving well-maintained curtain-sided vehicles, with typical start times from around 7:00am and shifts usually lasting 10-12 hours.

Whether you're driving a Class 1 or Class 2 vehicle, the work remains very similar, offering straightforward daytime deliveries with no overnight stays. This makes it an excellent opportunity for drivers looking for flexible, local work with a good work-life balance.

Pay Rate: £14.28 - £17.50 per hour (PAYE only)

What will you be doing?

Typical day-to-day work includes:

• Completing palletised multidrop deliveries throughout the HX postcode areas.


• Keeping the transport office updated throughout the day on your delivery progress.


• Collecting local customer consignments ready to return to the depot.


• Providing excellent customer service at each delivery and collection point.

As local collections come in throughout the day, flexibility is important. There may be occasions where you'll need to work a little later to ensure customers receive the service they expect.

Pay:

• CLASS 1- £17.50 per hour (including holiday pay)


• CLASS 1 - £15.62 per hour (holiday accrued separately)


• CLASS 2 – £16 per hour (including holiday pay)


• CLASS 2 - £14.28 per hour (holiday accrued separately)

PAYE only - we don't use umbrella companies.

Although this client is currently advertising for a Class 1 and 2 Driver, they often have various roles available – we'll always try to match you with suitable work.

What we need from you

For insurance purposes, you'll need:

• A valid HGV/LGV Class 1 (Category C+E) licence.


• Minimum 2 years with an HGV licence and at least 6 months HGV driving experience.


• A valid Driver CPC.


• A valid Digital Tachograph Driver Card.

We can accept up to 6 penalty points, however we cannot accept DD, DG, DR, TT, CD or IN endorsements.

Applicants must have the right to work in the UK.
Employment references and licence checks will be carried out before employment.
Applicants should be medically fit to carry out HGV driving duties (where applicable).
